With talent like yours, that camera won't be wasted. But, I can't imagine that it's possible for your photos to get any better than they already are. Please keep sharing those pics!

Love (LOVE!) that tongue pic. I hope you are watermarking those.
You basically take the 50mm lens, and take it off the camera body. You then flip it around and hold it against the body or buy an adapter. It makes for AMAZING macro photography. However you need a LOT of lighting. It helps to have some extra flashes I'm waiting to have enough funds to buy some lighting.

How are you liking the 5D MKII?? I bought two of them and returned them both. Did NOT like them. 1st ones images were virtually unusable due to extreme softness and the second one was much improved, but wasn't any better than my old 5D. After reading more and more about it, it seems that they can be real hit or miss. I guess I missed...
Now I'm looking at the 1D MK IV.

Oh, let me also add, the mirror in my 5D came off of the reflex assembly while I was taking some photographs two weeks ago!
I sent it into Canon and they fixed it at no charge but now seems to have higher noise than what it originally did and the focusing seems off.
I can't win sometimes with these cameras...and makes me that much more leery of dropping big bucks on a 1D model.

    Thanks a lot, everyone!

Just FYI - only the second photo with the water droplet done was done with the reverse macro technique. The tongue photo is a straight-up traditional macro, done with a Canon Ef 100mm 2.8 macro.

    Chris,
That's too bad about your first mkII experience. I can see why you wouldn't want to spend the extra money if its not out performing you 5d. So far mine has been everything that I expected and more. I was going to hold out for the mkIII but who knows when it will come out and I got sick of waiting.

Shooting with a rebel for so long, everything on this camera seems like a luxury but I'm particularly liking the fact that I can shoot at iso1600 on this camera and the images look as clean or cleaner than 400 on the rebel. Also loving the perceived shallower depth of field and the fact that I have sRAW and microfocus adjust (though I haven't had to use it on any lenses yet).

The copy I have has produced very sharp images so far but its possible that I just got a good copy or that my lenses are just happening to match up well with the body...

I hear you on the price of that 1d mark IV, especially considering that you could get about 4 5d's for the price. I hope you figure out a good solution to the problems resulting from your mirror issues! Your photos are unreal- I am frightened by the thought of the images you would get out of the 1d mark IV, lol.
