Red Tail Boa

Hey just a quick question I picked up a 6 ft Red Tail from someone on the net and I held him at his house and everything was fine now ive waited about 5 days to get him again if he starts getting aggressive are they easy to tame down?and any suggestions before I just pick him up i dont want to freak the snake out, the guy that I bought him from said that he picked him up but the way he had him didnt look that way at all... thanks in advance...

Have you given the snake a full week to acclimate to it's new surroundings? It could be that it is just stressed and is trying to figure out what is going on. I'd say give it a full week, leave it alone and don't mess with it. Then start with short periods of handling to allow the snake to get used to you. If it is being tank aggressive, you could purchase a snake hook to pull it out. My male BCI, Diablo, can be cage aggressive sometimes, but as soon as I put my hand on his back down lower near his tail and pat him a couple of times, he knows it is not feeding time and settles down. Don't try to pick your snake up closer to the head, as they can see this as an act of aggression and may respond. Hope all works out for you, enjoy your new friend!

When you went to get the snake, was it already out of the cage when you got there? A snake doesn't go docile to hostile in 5 days unless something is really wrong. If you didn't see the original owner take it out of the cage, then it's probably just talking a big game to get you to leave him alone. I'm sure when he's out, he'll be just as nice as when you first saw him.

My RTB hisses when she's in shed, could that be a possibility? Is RTB in the 160 gallon tank you have or did it come with a cage? Explain the setup.
