Re: Johnson or Ranco thermostat?
I use Ranco and they work fine for me. I was recently at a show and I asked an established breeder what was the difference between the two. He told be that it was basically a name difference and they both can get the job done. Hope this helps!

I have 2 Rancos I use as backups for my Helixs(which I highly reccomend) and I have never had a problem with the Rancos.

ok that helps alot thanks. also is it worth buying the grounded or non gorunded im leaning towards the johnson prewired with/out the night drop 79.99 Sounds like this wiill be an alright purchase and then this will be my first time ordering flexwat and im sure im over analyzing this whole process but I want everything to go smoothly for me and my snakes. anyways im under the impression they will put it all together then i just plug them into my thermostat? if that makes sense lol appreciate the help
if i want for shelves I need four clips for my tape is this correct and also when ordering I dont want the room heater I want the outlet strip? im assuming

I've got an equal number of Ranco's and Johnson's and I would have said that they were the same thing, but in the last year I've had a couple of the rancos go out on me while the johnsons still work fine.

I would highly recommend getting the Ranco and flexwatt from ReptileBasics.com
Rich has been wiring up these thermostats for years and always does a great job with them.
Rich can also answer any flexwatt question you have. The guy has been dealing the stuff for years. If you order from him he'll connect all the wiring to your stripes for free so when you get it all you have to do is tape it down. He has some of the best customer service around, if you give him a call he will answer all you questions and walk you through hooking up everything.

Yeah man I know how you feel, when I was building a incubator I had a bunch of flexwatt questions, I called Rich and he answered them all. Guy is all about helping you out which is why I recommend him for flexxwat, racks and theromstats.
The Ranco is my recommendation, and that's just because I own 2 of them and have never had a problem. I've never used the Johnson's though. Rich over at RBI also breeds BPs. Since he most likely has used both you might want to ask him about which he prefers.

Re: Johnson or Ranco thermostat?
Ive got 4 Rancos controlling my room heaters and window unit.
If I had to do it over again though I would probably get Johnson Controls because of the available night drop feature.
But the Rancos have served me fine thus far.
