    Freedom Breeder Racks...

Are Freedom breeder racks worth the price to get? My grandpa is wanting to get some nicer racks than the ones we have made. He was looking into those, I was just wondering if they are worth the big price tag or is there something else that's just as little less.

    Re: Freedom Breeder Racks...

I had a freedom breeder "style" rack made my adjustable breeder racks, and I did not like it. It was based on the original freedom breeder "open-air" rack. It was terrible with humidity, and some of my snakes went off-feed. The new style freedom breeder racks supposedly fix this issue, and may be worth the money. I have not, however, used the new style, so I can not comment on them.

    Re: Freedom Breeder Racks...

I just received a brand new 30-slot CB70 from Freedom Breeder, and it is by far the nicest ball python rack system on the market. Here are a few considerations:

    Cost:
The whole thing was expensive, but the cost per cage is the same or even cheaper than plastic rack systems. 30 cages at $2400 is only $80 each. This compares favorably to anything on the market, and you are getting industrial grade metal instead of thin plastic sheets screwed together.

    Construction:
Each level of Freedom Breeder is made out of nicely welded and professionally finished metal. They are about 55" x 36" (which is huge), but they click together like Legos. It is sturdy enough for a large grown man to climb on, but you can roll it around on carpet with one hand. If there is a tornado near your house, you will want to go hide under your Freedom Breeder.

    Snake happiness:
The new lids are made of plastic (rather than the open metal grates). You can order 0%, 25%, 50%, or 100% ventilation depending on your environment. You can get various sizes of heat panels - I got the 11" panels with 25% ventilation, and it works great for my room. It is not hard to maintain temps and humidity in a normal room if you order the right stuff.

    Customer service:
I ordered my stuff the week before the big Daytona show, and FB took the time to answer all my questions over numerous phone calls and emails. They shipped fast, and packed everything well. Freight shipping across the country was a little spendy, but FB can't help what FedEx charges.

    Time savings:
Feeding and cleaning cages is significantly faster in a single pro quality rack. It becomes much simpler to care for a large collection, and you will do a better job of routine maintenance because it is fun to play with your FB cage. It is hard to understand this paragraph until you experience it for yourself - I wouldn't have believed it a couple months ago, either.

I've owned racks by Boaphile, RBI, Freedom Breeder, AP etc.

While I no longer own any, if I were to buy them again I would give my return business to FB. Lindy and Jeff have always taken good care of me, the product is bullet proof and the options are endless. If money is no option, I'd go with FB.

You can also look in to ARS, pretty much the same design and everyone I've talked to who has had both FB and ARS racks have preferred the ARS racks.
