    new ball and my hand

a friend of mine(very reliable when it comes to snakes) gave me a ball he had..i have had a ball before(petc0) ball but never had one do this before....colt(the bp) will be in his hide and as soon as i put my hand in his cage to change his water or fix his hide or the bedding he gets really excited and comes out. he doesnt 's' up just comes out and puts his tongue out alot. i am sure he probably just wants to get used to my hand being in there..but should i be worried that he will try and snap at me. does anyone else's ball do this?

My snake does this all the time. He flicks his tongue every time I go to pick him up.

Some of mine do this and others completely ignore my presence when they're in their hides, I even have one little girl that insists on sitting in her hide with her head laying out to survey her home (don't know why she does this but she has a better feeding response than my retic so I'm not worried lol).

I wouldn't be worried about it, as long as you don't smell like rodent, you will be fine. Just sounds like a curious Ball Python!

My first thought if he comes out very excited is he might be looking for a meal. What and how often are you feeding? What age and size sanke are we talking about?

My boy Zeus is really easily stressed out. EVERY time I open his tub he immediately comes out and will cruise for an hour or so. I try to bother him as little as possible.

He just sounds very alert IMO from being in a new environment, he/she should relax in a few days or so
