Ivory X Super Stripe...???..Need HELP!!
Not that bad, lol, just an attention getter!!..haha..
Ok, I need some info, possibly a pic (I can't Find one)....
We have baby Ivory from a Ivory X Super Stripe, my question is being that there is Spector possibly in the Ivory, is there a way to tell she is carrying the Spector gene?
According to Genetics Wizard in WOBP, I have a 25% split..
MALE: Ivory
FEMALE: Super Striper
25%: Yellow Belly
25%: Yellow Belly, Specter
25%: Ivory
25%: Ivory, Specter
How can I tell if she has the Spector gene?

Re: Ivory X Super Stripe...???..Need HELP!!
Hi,
Well it depends on what the genetic outcomes of a superstripe are.
If spector and yellowbelly are on different locations then you could;
Breed it to an ivory?
I think that would give each egg a 50/50 chance of being either an ivory or a superstripe.
But I thought spector was an alelle (sp? ) of yellowbelly??
In which case the fact you have an ivory should mean it definately doesn't have spector in it at all.
Anyone know if it is or not?

dr del is right, you will get 50% ivory 50% superstripe

I think that's right Derek, but I'm not sure either. If they are in fact part of the same allelic mutation, than you couldn't have an Ivory Spector, just as you couldn't have a Super Lesser Mojave.

"just as you couldn't have a Super Lesser Mojave".
Thought this was a BEL or does this combo not work??
Sorry to highjack as I dont really have a clue on the thread at hand as I am just starting to get a handle on the genetics involed in "group" type morphs, alleles .

BELs are Leustics...The Ivory is Not part of the Lucy Group (Blue/Black Eye), as far as I know it's only Lesser/Butter, Mojaves, Fires, Russo, Phantoms. I might be missing another few..
I'm still kinda new to the same complex "Group Morphs"..Hence me coming here to the wonderful BP.Net site to get help from this Fine bunch of Experts..LOL.

I believe this would be correct

Fire should be excluded from that list. That mutation is not allelic with the rest of those you listed.
As far as the OP's inquiry, the reason the Genetics Wizard gave you those results is because it is not programmed to work with multiple alleles. It gave you the theoretical odds of a normal dihybrid incompletely dominant pairing. Because YB and specter are different mutant alleles of the same gene, ivory to super stripe will give you 50% ivories and 50% super stripes.
Also, as far as Hilltop's inquiry goes, the reason you can't have a super lesser mojave is that you can only have two alleles present on any particular gene. A lesser mojave would give you a form of blue-eyed leucistic, as would a super lesser. You can't have all three present in the same animal though (2 lesser and 1 mojave allele).

thanks russ. again sorry to jump in there.
I think I am up to speed with slightly different adjusted idea of the term "super". I was under the impression that it could apply to any animal that does not produce normal offspring, not that it had to be 2 of the exact same allele or gene. like a BEL made from 2 mojaves is a super, (2 mojave alleles) and a BEL from a lesser/phantom is not a "super" even though no normal offspring would be produced pairing with a normal.
