    Re: Controlling Temps

Herpstat, Helix, Ranco, and Johnson will probably be your best bet. The Ranco and Johnson are On/Off type thermostats, but you can order them with a 6 outlet power strip already pre-wired into it. The Herpstat and Helix are proportional thermostats and you would need to order them with grounded plugs to facilitate a power strip...

Those who have experience with using the Ranco or Johnson thermostats please donate your 2 cents on how they operate. Also those who have 20+ snakes do you just have multiple thermastats?

what are you asking exactly? They get up to the temp you set it for and cut the power, then turn back on when the temps dip.

Each rack has its own thermostat

I have the ranco and now with having a temp gun vs an accurite I can see that the on/off thermostats aren't that great. My ranco turns on the heat tape all the way to 108 then shuts off, and continues to keep temps on the tape steady.
I actually just invested in a herpstat pro. I will have 2 plugs for the rack (breeding vs non breeding), 1 for babies and 1 for the incubator. Getting it tom, I can't wait!!
