82-84ºF cool side tub surface temperature, underneath a couple layers of paper towel
92-94ºF warm side tub surface temperature, underneath a couple layers of paper towel
77-81ºF ambient (when the room is coldest [70-71ºF] it can be 77-78ºF ambient in the tub, average is a couple degrees warmer though)
Unfortunately, I couldn't find the digital thermometer/hygrometer that I wanted. The one that everyone on this forum seems to recommend cannot be found in the stores I looked at. It's the slim Acu-Rite with the wired probe and the hygrometer. All I could find was the one with a wireless box-shaped sensor for "outdoor" (read: warm side) temps, and it didn't have a hygrometer. I did my best to position that sensor on the surface of the tub, but it doesn't sit completely flush with the surface like the wired probe model.
Also, I'm just assuming that the humidity is above 50% until I can find a digital hygrometer.
I'm using a 31 qt. tub. It will probably last 6 months to a year for a male boa, at which time I'm hoping to get a Boaphile/AP cage with a radiant heat panel to put all these ambient temp. woes to rest.
Disclaimer: Regardless of what my signature says, I don't actually have the boa yet, for those of you worrying that my setup isn't finished and I actually had the snake in the tub.![]()
