I usually wait for 3 days unless its for cleaning up and other maintenance. Depends on the size of the meal too.

I "handle" my snakes almost as soon as they got there meal down, to put them back in there tubs. But as far as playing with them, I have never had a problem only waiting 24 hours. I have more snakes now so I dont really handle them as much as i use to individually so they are getting 48-72 hours now .

Re: Thoughts on how long to wait before picking your snake up after feeding

I give her 48 hour and i feed on either a wed or a sun that way i can handle her on the weekends. we usually have people around on the weekends and they most want me to take her out so i plan accordingly.

Re: Thoughts on how long to wait before picking your snake up after feeding

5-10 minutes! I feed in cardboard boxes, so I have to move them back to their tank, right? I always wait until I see the mouse is past their neck and solidly in their stomach--but after that they seem to be fine for low-level handling.

Of course, they basically go into a 48-hour food coma a little while after eating. Which makes them grumpy and lazy. So I usually just put them back and leave them alone for the next two days.

I feed outside the tank and I pick her/him up immediately when it's time to go back in. I also wipe her off extremely gently with a wet paper towel because I thaw using warm/hot water, so sometimes mouse blood and mouse guts get all over
