    Frozen Rats

Hi just wondering how long can i keep frozen rats in the freezer and still use them to feed my bp.

Reason i ask is pet store won't have any right size rats for a couple of weeks and the ones in the freezer have been there around 7-8 months at the most. I tried using them before but they were to big (reason they have been there so long) but now i think there the right size.

    Thanks

    Re: Frozen Rats

it depends on how they were packaged. I keep ziplocked rats around for 6months or so, i do notice some slight freezer burn, but my reptiles have never complained. Older than that and i remove it.

airsealed/freezer sealed i'd keep for a year, but no longer. Basically if I wouldn't eat it, i wouldnt want my animals eating it either.

Sometimes i'll find an off looking rat and toss it. i also will not re-freeze after thawing with the intent to serve to an animal (i'll freeze a rat to wait for trash day though :p )
