Well lets be clear. CO2 is suffocation at high concentrations and anesthesia at low. If done properly its a painless death. Even if its not done properly its a quick death and it does not add anything to the prey animal that can be harmful to your snake. Car exhaust is CO at best which is an even better anesthesia, BUTTTTT....... If your car has a bad or no catalytic converter your car exhaust is around 25% CO. The rest is poison that you will pass on to your snake and air. If you have a modern car with a good catalytic converter the CO output could be closer to 1%, not enough to kill but still contain some poisons. Car exhaust is not a good form of euthanasia. It may kill but I would not feed the resulting food item to my snake.
