What s the diffrents ???

Ok no bashing please but what is the differents in a c02 chamber with a canester of c02 and and exhaust from a car ? Again I am just wanting to know is I am sure were both can do the job is there really a diff ?

That's an interesting question! Like most smoke, auto exhaust does have a distinctive odor that permeates clothing and is noticeable until the clothes are washed. Smoke odors are also usually retained in hair so it just might bother a snake.

Well when you use a CO2 chamber, you basically change the concentration of the gases found in the air naturally, so it would kind of be comparable to climbing a really high mountain without an oxygen tank: you eventually pass out because you aren't getting enough oxygen, and you die of asphyxiation.

Car exhaust is different because it's also got all the fumes from the combustion of the fuel, so although I don't know for sure if it has an effect on the animal you feed the rat to, I would probably guess that it would, because it kills the animal by basically poisoning it.

If you have to choose between the two, I strongly recommend against the car exhaust. It's not as humane and probably not even safe for the animal you want to feed the rat to.

I've been mulling this over for a little while and to better answer your question, there are just too many unknowns and variables for this to be a safe practice. Many older vehicles or those not running just right will pass all kinds of toxic by-products from incomplete combustion of the gasoline. Even a newer vehicle can exhaust some pretty nasty stuff, especially if the engine was just started and not fully warmed up. Plus you'd have to find a way to safely route the fumes to the rats and humanely euthanize them without roasting them alive before they succumb to the fumes. Really, there are just too many variables to provide a good answer for your question.

well for starters the DIFFERENCE is one is CO2 and the other is CO. CO is TOXIC and kills you through poisoning you. CO2 is non toxic but forces out / replaces air, thereby suffocating you.

Well lets be clear. CO2 is suffocation at high concentrations and anesthesia at low. If done properly its a painless death. Even if its not done properly its a quick death and it does not add anything to the prey animal that can be harmful to your snake. Car exhaust is CO at best which is an even better anesthesia, BUTTTTT....... If your car has a bad or no catalytic converter your car exhaust is around 25% CO. The rest is poison that you will pass on to your snake and air. If you have a modern car with a good catalytic converter the CO output could be closer to 1%, not enough to kill but still contain some poisons. Car exhaust is not a good form of euthanasia. It may kill but I would not feed the resulting food item to my snake.

dont forget CO (carbon monoxide) is also toxic, hence carbon monoxide poisoning. and yea id never kill em that way and feed it to my snakes, thats asking for dead snakes
