Help with a breeding project.

Ok so,my name is Cody. And I just got into Snakes. Got my first one a month ago. Now I own seven with my mother and her boyfriend. I am homeschooled and now have a huge business project.

I have to pretend I have $5000 dollars and I need to make a breeding company. While staying economical. I need to know,good morphs. And also what I can mix to make even more pricey ones as well. Also buying incubators,food,and building materials for snakeracks.

What I need the most help with is,what combinations make different morphs of Ball pythons and whats the cheapest breeds that make the most money?

also,a list of morphs that are out there could help

the fastest way to get a return for your money is to get female codoms and male double, and triple codoms.

example.......

Females.
Normals
lesser
butter
mojave
PASTELS ! a must get a few.
black pastel
spider
pinstripe
ect......


Males

pewter (cinny & pastel)
bumble bee (pastel & spider)
killer bee (supper pastel & spider)
lomon blast (pinstripe & pastel )
killer blast (supper pastel & pinstripe)
spinner ( pinstripe & spider)
spinner blast (pastel, spider & pinstripe)
queen bee ( lesser,pastel & spider)
lesser/butter bee (lesser or butter and spider)
lesser/butter pastel (lesser or butter and pastel)
supper lesser/butter aka BEL (lesser&lesser or butter&butter)
ect.........

The list can go on for days!

you dont need to spend alot on females to produce really nice stuff. On the other hand a nice three gene male will run you 2k plus!

Not sure if you are aware of this but every year snakes take a price drop.
example early last year (09) bumble bees were going for about $700-800 this year they are selling for $450-500.

if i didnt have my own collection to begin with & able to start all over.. i would get lots of normal adult females maybe 15 females..

then get the 5 female to breed with each of these few males:
killer bee (super pastel spiders)
super blast (super pastel pinstripe)
killer blast (super pastel spider pinstripe)

well, there are other morphs that can be mix in the batch. but there is always demand for plain old pastels, spiders & pinstripes. which you can easily sell.

with the above, you could end up getting the double morphs too like super pastel, bumblebee, lemonblast. you could also easily hit the spinner blast, with 5 female to your odds.

you could easily get your $5K capital back, and work your way getting new morphs in the mix or swaping your surplus to get new morphs.

As far as incubation,and Snake racks,whats the best way of doing that? Letting the snake incubate would be cheaper,but is that the right way to go?

As far as racks go if your handy you can build your own and save a little bit of cash, or you can purchase them from a few different vendors. With the incubation you can let your females incubate their eggs. This tends to be a little more stressful on you the keeper as you have to make sure the temps and humidity for the entire cage are correct. Where as in an incubator once its set and running at the correct temp you shouldn't have any problems. Also the reason must people choose to incubate artifically is so they can get their females back feeding as soon as possible and ready for the next season.

the cheapest breeds that make the most money?

This is not a get reach over night thing or even a making your investment back within a year thing. In some cases it will take a few years and if you want to grow as a business the money that will be made will be re-invested right back, so it could take you several years before making a profit.

A lot of things are involve first learning the proper terminology would be a good start

Second research research research all the info are readily available to you and part of breeding is to learn without being spoon fed all the information, that is usually where everyone starts, than when you have a grasp on what you are about to do asking specific question is your next step.

Breeding involves a lot more than putting 2 snakes together, you need to be ready and know what you are doing before even thinking about "making the most money"

Things might not go as well as you think, animals not breeding, slugs, etc and you could make nothing and end up in the hole $5000

Now on "the cheapest that will produce the most money" usually you buy cheap animal which often means lower quality your will more than likely produce lower quality animals.

Finally you need a solid business plan $5000 will not get you very far when you take in consideration animals, caging, food, possible vet cost (setting a fund aside for the unpredictable) etc
