is it ok to use like an oatmeal box if you cutout the bottom and put a entrance... they seem to love it...

Re: box hides
ya u could but the humidity and waste from ur snake will ruin the bax so just make sure u change it out often. i just get the cat litter boxes from walmart and cut the rounded sides off and a whole big enough for the snake.
A room full of empty racks and thermostats that have been unplugged.

Yes, it is perfectly fine as long as you replace them when they get dirty and do not use tape on them or in the enclosure at all. Also, make sure they fit tightly around your snake and they are not too tall.

IM having majorly hard times getting this to work... they seem to figure out that theres no bottom to the box (i assume I cut the bottom off the box right?) and just flip the thing over...

Leave the box whole, and just make an entrance. Again, no tape anywhere.
As long as you treat it as a disposable hide, there should be no issue.

It will harbor quite a lot of bacteria if the snake urinates. If you get a chance you can find great stuff at the dollar store...especially litter boxes or large colored bowls. You just cut a hole in it and put it in. I typically will burn the edges a bit so they are not so rough.
