Was told this by a snake breeder, what do you think
So i met a snake breeder today while i was at work " he was wearing his business shirt" so i told him about me purchasing 3 and starting a breeding project etc... well after awhile of talking he told me.. that he has a shop that he keeps them in and he keeps it at 92 degrees day 82 at night, so he doesnt have to put a heat source on each snake setup.. . and i know everyone on here says to have a hot side and a cool side.. so i was wondering whats the downfall to having 1 steady temp for the whole room.. he told me there was none, it gave a more natural surrounding to the wild.,...... btw so i dont get scolded i do use heat tape with a controled temp.....

in the wild they can choose what temp to be in, lay out in the sun if they wanted (which would be way to hot for a ball most days), but they could be in the shade or under ground. in captivity they can't choose if your room is just one temp. what he does may work, but its far from ideal and the exact opposite as in the wild.
and any heat source you need to regulate it, too many variables change cage temps for you not to.

I know of some breeders that use the ambient heating method. The theory is they are following the natural tempreture cycles of night and day. As long as they are in their required range most should do fine. I bought a pastel from a guy many years ago that used that method successfully.
What is reccomended alot on this forum is for beginners, its not the only way but its much safer and easier to achieve for the average beginner. Most folks cant provide a perfectly climate controled room so you wont find that reccomended much.

Like Raul says, it's a viable method, just not recommended for Beginners.

I agree with you on this. Our rooms are temped up, but to the lower end of the day temps. But we are still using heat tape for a hot spot. I can tell everyone it does not make it fun to work in the rooms when they are that warm.

There are a lot of breeders who have rooms that are heated, rather than belly heat. Nothing wrong with his method for him.

I use heat tape, but I know plenty of people that just heat the room. Works fine.
