    Sterilite vs Iris? AP Racks.

    Hey guys,

I am going to be buying a 10 slot sideways Animal Plastics rack but I am not sure whether to get the 375 Series (Iris Tubs) or the 1753 Series (Sterilite Tubs). I am not familiar with the quality of the Iris tubs, but I do currently use Sterilite and am happy with the quality of the plastic.

I would just go with the Sterilite series, but, the Iris series holds more tubs per shelf then the Sterilite. For basically the same price. But I am not sure how many quarts to Iris tubs equal out to? Are they less then 15 & 32 qts?

Also, I heard that the 6, 15, and 32 qt Sterilites are latch boxes now.. If I order the Sterilite AP rack, will I have to use latch boxes?

    TIA!!

Boxes have changed quite a bit lately, I would ask the rack maker. Also most rack makers can sell you the tubs.

Personally I prefer Sterlite as they are easier to find, and come in tons of sizes., locking and non locking lids.

I think your best bet would be to ask AP

I don't notice any difference between iris and sterlite tubs, I just find that more places around me sell sterlite

Re: Sterilite vs Iris? AP Racks.

    Im an IRIS guy myself

Iris sticks to their tubs sizes, unlike Sterilite or Rubbermaid who changes their sizes rather frequently.

So a Sterilite rack bought a year ago might be made for a tub that has been discontinued....

Stick to the Iris tubs, smoother insides, thicker material....

I've already asked AP if they could order the tubs for me, that is not a problem. I've bugged AP enough with all of my questions so I figured I'd come to you guys LOL. I am just wondering if Iris holds up to Sterilite's durability and what sizes the Iris tubs are in quarts.

Do any of you know how to figure out quarts from a tubs dimensions? I need it for the Shoe boxes and Boot Boxes.

Whether I go with the Iris or Sterilite rack, I am unable to get either tubs locally... Since I am in Canada. So availability isn't much of an issue right now.

Thanks for the help so far guys!

I agree with 2K, I like the iris tubs way better than the steralites. Most steralites I have seen have grooves on the inside where iris makes tubs that are flat bottomed

Thanks guys! And I think I figured out the quarts. It seems the smaller ones are 12.2 quarts and the large ones are 30.6 quarts. not far off from the Sterilites 15 and 32 quarts. Plus I can hold more for the same price.

I think I am leaning more towards the Iris rack now..

    Nicole; Rubbermaids.
They're cheap, easy to find and indestructable.

I would.. but.. 28 qt is just too small for my collection. The sterilite would be perfect at 15/32 but you've seen my dilema. I really don't want to go smaller then 30.6 quarts (iris tub).

    Thanks though!

Well this sucks. The Container Store wants $70 shipping for $80 worth of tubs.... That's just ridiculous.

Guess I'll have to go with Sterilite.. Hopefully they aren't the handle ones.

Opnions are still very appreciated.. Thanks again.
