Kind of interesting that all the rational comments are "hidden" because they are voted down.
Of course, they do include stats about dogs, but the truth no less...
Dogs kill and maim more than the exotics do. I suspect the need to control the unusual animals stems from a political motive of protecting these animals from "American imperialist exploitation". Start with dogs, and move down the list.according to the cdc...in the last 20 years less than 100 people have been hurt or killed by "exotic" pets. also according to the cdc...over 4.7 million people every year are bitten by dogs in the u.s.. almost 1 million of those are serious enough to require medical attention, which puts a burden of over 1 billion dollars on the healthcare system. also, over 100,000 people are hospitalized every year due to trip and fall accidents involving their dogs and/or cats. and the animals more likely to spread disease are the stray dogs and cats that are EVERYWHERE. i think we should put a ban on dogs. i'm not giving up my snake for anyone or anything. get rid of the mangy mutts. This one will be gone shortly....If a person wants to get an exotic pet and has the means to do so, let them do it!! This is still a free country, right? Laws like this that 'legislate against stupidity' restrict our the rights of the American people to take risks. You may not approve and probably wouldn't do it yourself, but it should still be within an American citizen's rights to own an exotic animal.
BTW, there sure are a lot of racist Yahoo news readersEvery year over 20,000 people are killed in car accidents. Using the same logic, why not ban cars as well?![]()
