No pest pest strip anyone use it?

So a friend of mine said he uses it to treat all his reptiles for mites and to prevent mites.

Anyone use this to treat and prevent mites?

    Just wondering...

The reptile place i worked at we used no pest strips they worked great. But if there is to much of it, it can cause your pet to get ill.

I use PAM, I've heard of some 'ol timers that use it, but you cn't use the whole strip, you have to cut off a small strip of it, or like stated above you stand the risk of your animal getting sick or dying, why take the risk get PAM.

Like stated above if you cut them into tiny cubes they can be used effectively without harming your animals. We used em for 2 years and never had a problem as long as you don't over do it. We had a little to much in the store at one time and it killed crickets but that was the worst thing that happened never had an ill snake or lizard and never had any mites.

Okay well he uses the hotshot brand so its kinda hard to cut it I guess?

But should I just hang it on the wall so it effects the entire house cause I don't want mites :/

We cut tiny cubes up, im talking half the size of your pinky nail and put them in with the substrate in each tank which was about 60 or more. I haven't tried that method so i don't have much info.

If you don't have a mite problem, don't worry about putting the hotshots. Reptile mites are specific to mammals. They don't survive too long in anything other than on reptiles. So, if you follow quarantine procedures when you bring new reptiles into your home, then you should be fine.

I'm a newbie. So, take this advice with confirmation from other members. Thanks!

Re: No pest pest strip anyone use it?

i used pest strips this for a long time before pam came along, like said we would cut it into small pices, then we would put it in a deli cup with holes in it put it in the cage and be on our way. use to much can mess up a snake, but ive seen people mess up animals with pam also, mostly by not airing out the cage after its sprayed. both work but pam is easy.
I want one I need one got to rob that bank one day
