    Bumblebee x Axanthic?

Alright so I am completely new to breeding and I just a have a few questions. Im doing my best to find all of this out myself but I just need some answers to help me understand some things.

So If I were to breed a normal to a bumblebee, I would get 25% Normal, pastel, spider, or bumblebees? Because both are dominant traits?

Now if I bred an axanthic to a bumblebee would my odds be 25% normal. 25% axanthic then what?

This is all so confusing, any help is appreciated.

if you breed a bumble bee to a normal you would get
    25% normals
    25% pastels
    25% spiders
    25% bumble bees

if you breed a bee to a axanthic you will have the same results but all will be 100% het axanthic since axanthic is a reccessive gene.

    Re: Bumblebee x Axanthic?

So in order to get an axanthic bee, I have to breed a Bumblebee Het Axanthic to a Axanthic or Het Axanthic?

Basically yes. Axanthic is recessive so in order to see the mutation you have to have 2 "copies of the gene" so both parents must carry at least one copy, like a het axanthic or both copies a visual axanthic.

So their are a couple ways to get an axanthic bee.
    Parents:
(Het axanthic Pastel x het axanthic spider) or (Bumble bee het axanthic x het axanthic)

    Same odds on Offspring:
    1/16 Normal
    1/8 Normal looking Het. axanthic
    1/16 visual axanthic
    1/16 spider
    1/8 spider Het. axanthic
    1/16 spider Visual axanthic
    1/16 Pastel
    1/8 Pastelc het. axanthic
    1/16 Pastel visual axanthic
    1/16 Bumble Bee
    1/8 Bumble Bee Het. axanthic
    1/16 Bumble Bee visual axanthic

But if the parents are (Het Axanthic Bumble Bee x Axanthic) or (pastel axanthic x spider het axanthic) or (Axanthic spider x pastel het axanthic)

the odds on the offspring will be:
    1/8 Normal looking het axanthic
    1/8 Visual axanthic
    1/8 Spider het axanthic
    1/8 Axanthic spider
    1/8 Pastel het axanthic
    1/8 Pastel axanthic,
    1/8, Bumble Bee het axanthic
    1/8 Bumble Bee axanthic

    Good Luck!
