    Don't know what to do...

I have an albino female that was locking up with a spider male for a while a few months ago. She wasn't showing any signs of developing or ovulating so I gave up until next season so she could gain a little weight and because I went back to school. Now my BPs stay home while I am 3 hours away at school. I came home yesterday and she looks like she is about to pop. The eggs seem to be down towards her vent and they look like they are going to come out within the next day or two. I can get a picture of her but I don't want to disturb her so I only will if anybody thinks they can def say whether or not I'm right about this. Now I have to go back to school tomorrow. While I have my brother here giving them water, he does not know anything about eggs and he would not know what to do. My choices are to try and talk him through it or I can take her with me to school. I don't know if it is such a good idea to move her that far when she is so close to laying. OR if by some miracle she lays while I am here, can I safely transport the eggs and incubate at school so I can have them under close watch??

    What would YOU do???
    Thanks

Both your options are unnecessary. If she lays eggs, leave them in with her until you get home, then you can remove to incubate. 3 hours won't harm the eggs.
Taking her to school could harm her, in many ways. Leaving her with someone who knows nothing...I wouldn't do it.

Leave the eggs alone with her, and check when you get home, if she goes, just remove the eggs. Simple.

I wasn't clear about being at school...Once I leave tomorrow night I wont be home for 2 weeks. I have classes and work and although I might be able to rush home for a night or a few hours the chances that it will be right away are slim...so the wait will most likely be for at least a day or two....will the eggs be ok for that long with her? I know some people maternaly incubate so if I just up the humidity until I get there maybe...

With out sounding like an ass. My suggestion would be do the best you can and next time wait until you can properly handle the out come of breeding before you do.

This obviously wasn't supposed to turn out this way and although its not how I wanted it, I'm merly asking for advice on what would be best for her....I am trying to do my best for a situation that didn't turn out how I thought it would. Thoght I would go to the experts before I did something else stupid

I retract get an incubator setup. Get the egg box set up with instructions of how to get them set up. It's not rocket science your brother should be able handle it

If you're gonna be back in a week or so and don't trust yr brother to sort it, make sure temperatures are good and stick a load of sphagnum moss in to up the humidity. Then sort it when you get back.

Re: Don't know what to do...

Several BP breeders on our forum maternally incubate by leaving mom on the eggs for the entire 60 or so days. You might want to consider this option.

While I've never gone this route, I've read threads that talk about it. You might want to try searching this forum for details.

Good luck with whatever you try!

Re: Don't know what to do...

Well she laid 8 good eggs last night and they are in the incubator. I am leaving them with my brother for the time being because all he has to do now is check on them and burp the tubs once a week...I"ll let you guys know how this works out!
