    Check again. Check spots that you think would be too small to hide. If you have a non-carpeted floor and it's a rarely traveled area, consider putting some sort of powder (non-toxic, obviously) down on the ground to see if it moves through the area, though it will often take a long time for he/she to move. Lastly, check spots that may be off ground level if there's any possible way he/she could have gotten off the ground.
