I have 2 male Royal (ball) pythons. Both have been really restless, climbing their tanks, constantly cruising, trying to get out for about 2 months. They did this last year for a short period, but they are not settling back to normal this time. Their enclosures haven't changed in over a year inc temps, heating source etc. Their behavior seems to mirror each other, ie- they will both stay in the cool side for exactly the same time period, and when one moves to the hot side the other will too. (not housed together, both in separate tanks in separate rooms by the way)
The bumblebee seems more restless, he is 2 years old.He is very outgoing and doesn't get stressed easily. There is no obvious signs of physical ill health.Handling or not handling doesn't seem to make a difference. If i leave him, he still climbs for hours, and when i let him have a wander out of the tank, he is still restless when i put him back.
With the behavior similar I'm guessing it may hormonal and them coming into sexual maturity and looking to mate? Both have not eaten in 3 months. They were in boarding for a month at my local rep shop back in feb/march while i was overseas. They ate twice when i got them home, they both got mites from there but i caught it early and cleared them up fairly quickly. The not eating isn't worrying, but the climbing is. Thought i would post here for any advice please? Is it a trip to the vets?
Thanks Scott
