    WHat do you guys think?

Ok I got contacted about 4 Smoking Cinny girls I had up for sale. The buyer wanted me to drop the price from 250 each shipped, but didn't give a offer. I explained to him that these were priced low for a quick sell and I know I could sell them at a upcoming show for 250 with no shipping. He then sent me a message kinda explaining why he had asked me. He figured that with me shipping all four girls out at once I would save 150 or so dollars on the shipping. He had a good point so I sent him a offer. In the mean time another customer had shown interest in one of the nicer ones and was ready to buy, but I wanted to let the customer that wanted them all to have first chance because he contacted me first. I saw he had not been online so I went to the website he had in his signature and called the number on the contact page. Now I assumed it was his website that he was advertising in his signature but it wasn't. It was his sons and he didn't seem to understand why I would have called a number listed on a website that he had in his signature. So my question is: Why would anyone list a website in there signature that they didn't want to be contacted on?

Now I will say that the customer did contact me the next day explaining he had assumed I didn't want to sell them lower and he went to another seller. He was very polite in every way even when I called him on his sons number lol. Just wondering what you all think about this.

    Simple.

If a phone number is in a siggy.....on a PUBLIC forum where sales/trades happen....its to be expected that the number gets dialed.

Dont put a number if you DONT want calls.....plain and simple

If you have a phone number listed in your signature, it is perfectly logical for someone to think that it is your contact number. If he is advertising his son's site and putting his son's number on his sig, he should not be surprised when people contact that number looking for him. Just my 2 cents.

I'd still say if the link was in his signature, it was another way to contact him. I wouldn't put anything in my signature I was not affiliated with it. Even if it were my son's site.

    Clarification

Okay.. I guess I am obligated to respond and explain something here since the OP sent me a PM linking me to this thread.
The basic content of the thread is correct, although a little vague....
The OP did, in fact, have an ad offering 4 cinny females for sale at a price of $250.00 ea shipped. With SYR being off line for snakes I know I have shipped to the West Coast for around $50.00 / shipment. So I inquired if he would be willing to do a package price for all 4 females and asked what the best price shipped for all 4 would be. He responded that he could not go below the $250.00 advertised price and knew that he could sell them for that price at a local show and not pay shipping at all. That was fine with me... everyone has the right to set the price of their animals so I simply responded No problem, I just thought we could save a little on shipping by combining the animals and thought the deal was over.
The web site in my signature is for BOTH me AND my son (although he runs it). Some of you know that until recently I worked as a State Trooper, and because of this fact did not put personal contact information for myself. My son has his contact info listed on the site under his name (which is what the OP found). Neither of us have any problem whatsoever with the OP using that contact info to get hold of me. We were just both a little surprised that while getting ready for bed, he received a phone call at almost 11:00 PM regarding a snake sale/purchase inquiry.
As a side note... since I recently retired, we will be adding my personal contact info to the site as well. It is perfectly acceptable to use his in the meantime, we would just ask that the calls be placed at a slightly more reasonable hour. Hope this long winded message clears up any confusion

I agree that most people wouldn't want the phone ringing at that hour unless they were expecting the call.

Well if the surprise was from the hour of the call, instead of being contacted at that number, I'd say that clears it up!

I forget time differences a lot. I finally put various locations on my phone's time zone feature. Now if I'm going to call a friend in another time zone(or country) I can check first to see what time it is there.

My favorite is texting a NASA robot operator at 5am to ask if you could drill a hole in a mirror with a laser. Luckily he was understanding too. And answered my question before going back to sleep!

Talking Re: WHat do you guys think?

In all subject about the snakes being sold at the 250$ price tag those females listed to me where worth 350$. After viewing them myself.
Even after sitting here for a week looking for a cinnamon female that is top notch quality and more then fair at a 250$ shipped price actually almost wholesale prices.
Its within those buyers that are serious about a purchase to let the seller know that the deal wasnt in sight for them and let them seek other ave.'s of selling their animals. (W/O sellers remorse for the seller)
We soon forget that some invest so much time and sweat to insure quality that time is money and some times holding your breathe for a response will loss you potential customers.
But thats the business I guess... << Soon enough will find all that out myself lol...
Tim your a stand up guy cant say enough about what kind of operation you have out there in sin city and stay content.

P.S. Thanks for the Cinny she was worth every penny
