    And the daddy is...

    Julius the Mojave!

As some of you probably know, I did a "who's the daddy" clutch with my girl Mona... she was with Toby the Pastel, Julius the Mojave, and possibly Vinnie the Spider too. She's a hussy, LOL. Out of 6 eggs I unfortunately only got one morph, but I couldn't be happier with him/her. It's a beautiful FAT (72g) Mojave, who looks just like his/her daddy!

Now this project got me thinking, especially after seeing other multiple-sire clutches... do you think having multiple dads increases the number of normals? Maybe the normals have 2 dads, and only one produced a morph? Just a thought, since I noticed a few other clutches like mine - where the normal percentage is higher than usual, and the mom was with multiple males. Anyway, here are some photos of the parents & resulting babies... I'll post a full clutch thread on the photo forum, once the ONE holdout decides to emerge from the egg.

Here are the mom & dad together

Thanks! She was about 2500g before becoming gravid, and like 2000g after laying... she's been eating like a hog since then, so I imagine she's close to her pre-lay weight again. She is a gentle giant, though - sweet as can be!

Thanks, and I'm crossing my fingers too! I tried popping, but I'm not sure I was doing it right... got some pee & scent gland (yellow) stuff, and what looked like female genitalia. Let's hope there are no hemipenes hiding in there!

P.S. I called my vet to ask for help with sexing, and they said they only use probes - and won't do that until they're 2-3 weeks old. Is that typical, and is it also too soon for popping?

Never too soon for popping. Probes in hatchlings make me nervous. Maybe that's just me, though.

Cool... I'll have my roommate takes some photos/video of my popping attempts, and we'll see if you all concur with the assessments. The four I popped all looked female, though, which makes me doubt my abilities. Either that, or the odds gods decided to make up for the 5 normals.

Thank you, python1024! Here are a few more shots... btw, I popped the Mojo again, and it still looks like a girl to me.
