Laurel tree wood

Hi everyone, I just got my ball python last week and I am looking to put some sticks for him to climb on in his cage. I cut some decent-sized sticks off of a laurel tree and I was wondering if these would be ok for him allergy-wise. So is it safe to put them in is cage?

O.K. Ball Pythons are not arboreal. They prefer to stay on the ground. If you want to put some fauna in the tank for display purposes please do, but the snake will generally stay on the ground.

Well, I made his shelter out of a box, and he loves to climb on it and he does all the time. So just to confirm, laurel tree wood will not harm him?

P.S. what is fauna? lol im new to this

Woods toxic to reptiles include many fragrant and oily trees. As laurel leaves are commonly used in cooking (bay leaves), I would most definitely steer clear. A google search on toxocity, laurel, ball python yielded results that pointed in the "no" direction. If you want to provide your snake with come climbing items, I would suggest either mopani wood or the stick on adjustable fake bamboo rods that they sell in pet shops. Just remember that as BPs are center heavy, nothing that could be potentially climbed upon should be more than 6-8 inches off of the ground in case they fall and never situated over anything hard.
