Well on the one hand, some folks might honestly think they would love having a snake, then they find out they can be boring pets. So they would rather not own it. What would you have them do with it?

Rehoming is always a good thing to me. No one rehomes a pet they want and can have. Maybe they want it but can't keep it, maybe they can't keep it but want it.. maybe it's neither. But if they want the pet, and can keep it, they wouldn't be rehoming it.

And for snakes, it's honestly not like the snake is going to "miss" the old owner. In fact, most dogs and cats do well in a new home also. And if the alternative is not getting the attention they need(whether it's basic care or attention depending on the pet), then it's way better for them to get a new home.

I've actually heard people say that a dog should be put down instead of rehomed.. because there's some sort of weird belief that the dog would be better off dead than in a different environment. I've often wondered if they put their pet to sleep if they'll be moving to a new house? Weird.

Most all pets are very adaptive, and especailly reptiles don't become attached to a certain tank or keeper per se. So it's far better to see them going into a potetially better home than to stay where they are no longer wanted or able to be kept.

That's my $0.02.
