Question Regarding Pied Het offspring.
I think because it's late and i'm stumped.
So i have a question for these 2 scenarios:
1st Scenario
100% Het Pied X 66% het pied= Proves out and visual pieds in the clutch along with normals.
What are the normals in this clutch considered?
Are they 100% hets? or Possible Hets?
2nd Scenario
100% het pied x 100% het pied= Visual pieds in clutch along normals.
What are the normals in this clutch considered?
Are they 100% hets? or Possible Hets?
Thanks in advance
Javier

I believe the normals will be all 66% possible hets., in both scenarios.
Ball Pythons:
0.1.0 Bumble Bee- Schnapps
0.1.0 Pinstripe- Penny
0.1.0 Super Cinnamon- Cleo
0.1.0 Albino- Daiquiri
0.1.0 Low White Piebald- Hershey
1.0.0 Low White Piebald- Reese
1.0.0 Paradox Super Cinnamon- Dash
1.0.0 100% Het. Albino- Jester
1.0.0 50% Het. Albino Jake

Both situations would call for the normals to be 66% hets, due to the fact that 2/3 of the babies statistically should be carrying the Pied gene, but you cannot determine which ones for sure.

Re: Question Regarding Pied Het offspring.
Ditto the above. The pos het is considered a 100% het after proving out, so it's the same for both clutches, and all normals are 66% pos hets.

The moment you hatch a pied, your '66%' het pied becomes 100% het pied. In other words, it is a het pied. There are no actual percentages involved at that point. An animal either carries the gene for pied, or it does not. 66% only referred to the percentage chance that it carried the gene. Once you prove it, you know for certain.
Breeding a het pied X het pied ON AVERAGE gives you the following: 25% of the hatchlings will be pied. 50% of the hatchlings will be het for pied. 25% of the hatchlings will be normal.
Since you cannot tell the normals from the het pieds, you group them all together, and you call them '66%' het pieds. Each individual has a 2/3 chance of being het for pied, and a 1/3 chance of simply being normal.

Thank you all for your input. Appreciate it! It all makes better sense to me now.
