one came out with yolk :'( :'( now what?!

so our clutch of 6 started hatching today, day 56. Albino X Spider, and we also paired her with a Pastel.

i am crying so hard right now, i don't even know what to do with the poor thing, when i noticed it had pipped last night, i got so excited, and i came back home today to see the snake mostly out of the egg, and the yolk was beside it. the snake was just laying there, almost motionless. i gave it a poke and it seemed to tense up a bit where i poked it. it's not dead...but i fear it will pass soon it is very limp.

this is my first ball clutch, and i am so so so so upset. i have put it in a container with a wet paper towel, and i've covered it with a black hoodie so it doesn't get too freaked out by the light.

obviously it hatched too early, is there any reason why? my temps are around 87-88, being closer to 84-85 for the first month or so of incubation. and like i said, today is day 56.

I can't help you with this, but just wanted to say I hope it all works out!!! Good luck with the little guy...I'm sure we all hope he pulls through! *hug*

Is there a knot or tangle in the umbilicus somewhere? If not, just keep it on wet paper towels and it should absorb the yolk just like it was still in the egg. You may even want to put it in a smaller container if you have one to reduce the chance of it trying to crawl around and ending up with a torn umbilicus.

Not a good sign that the yolk hasn't been absorbed...do you know any local breeders in your area who may be able to help?

I have a feeling that the lower temps played a big part in this..my question is did you clip the eggs or did they pip on their own? Day 56 is about right to see heads if you were incubating at 88-89 for 60 days but 84-85 for over 30 of that they should have taken the full 60 before they even pipped on their own.. are any of the others pipped?

i don't see any sort of knot or anything, there's probably close to an inch of purple "stuff" sticking out, which i guess is the umbilical cord. i talked to Henry Piorun, and he said it's weird that it would pip and come out so early, but it's not unheard of. i was too flustered to ask if it could have been related to temps. one thing i also thought of is maybe the rats were crashing around and scared it? Henry said the best i can do is wait a day or two and see if it absorbs any of the yolk. if not, i should tie it off and snip it, because the yolk will get stinky and gross. the snake is in a small container with wet paper towel, and i put it back in the incubator. do you think that's good, or should i take him out of the bator? i really hope he's okay, my heart is so broken right now

i did not clip it, i saw a slit in the egg last night, and a bit of nose this morning but when i came home from work it's head, most of his body, and yolk were out. the only thing still in the egg was the very tip of it's tail. no, none of the others have pipped so far, and at this point, i sure hope they don't.

Leave him in the incubator, you want to keep him warm so the yolk doesn't solidify on you. I had one leave the egg earlier this year with the yolk still attached, ended up tearing the umbilicus before absorbing all the yolk, and now he's the biggest from the clutch.

that gives me a little tiny bit of hope. i just feel like it's a bad dream and i'm going to wake up any second. yes, i know, it's a little dramatic, but that's just how i feel right now i really hope he absorbs some yolk, though, as it he's very very weak, and i couldn't even imagine him eating right now. i can tell he's still alive because he jolted a little when i moved him, but he's kind of like a limp noodle right now
