Tried to feed...
Alright, well yesterday was my BPs feeding day and instead of an Adult Mouse I decided to try a Rat. Well of course he killed the Rat and didn't eat it now what I was wondering is should I try to feed a Mouse today or do I wait tell the next feeding to try and feed? Also may I add he was in shed, he started shedding like 5 min after he killed the rat. He has never refused food for me until yesterday.

Wait til the next feeding schedule. If he killed the rat then chances are something spooked him and he dropped it. It's very rare in my opinion for the snake to do it all and just drop it and forget it unless spooked. Sometimes they will drop the rodent and go exploring, then come back and eat as well. How long did you leave the rat in with the snake?

Yea I lined the feeding box up with Paper Towels and when he struck he got some of the Paper Towel with the Rat and my dad pulled it out from under him so he could just eat the Rat and not some Paper Towel to that might of spooked him. It only took about 5 Sec for him to strike at the Rat after it was in there and then we left him in there for probably 10 or so minutes after he was done killing it. My dad also picked it up with tongs and he waived it in his face trying to get him to eat it.

I've had some take up to an hour to eat one. It's not common but has happened.
Could have been pulling the paper towel from the snake like you said.
Cheers

Re: Tried to feed...
I would try a rat next week as well. If your snake struck and killed the rat, then it was interested and got spooked.

Re: Tried to feed...
Probably was the shedding--killing the rat started the shedding process, and he got distracted by shedding...and forgot about the rat. ^_^

Well one time he was in the feeding box and I dropped a mouse in and he killed it and ate it... and then he started to shed. Not sure I'll just wait tell the next feeding to try again with a rat. He doesn't seem like he would be a picky eater.
