    Re: small breeder ??

Normal males I give away to co-workers or friends who have expressed an interest in getting a ball python. I let them know I had some hatched, give them a shopping list of what they need to get to get their baby all set up. They let me know when they are ready - and off they go!

    Normal females I sell.

    Re: small breeder ??

LOL obviously u would sell them or get rid of them. i should have been a lil bit more clear with my question.

ok so local stores are usually willing to trade for feeders? thats cool. i didnt think of that. im not a registered shipper so that kinda limits me. i didnt think of giving them to family or friends, im sure i could find a lot of good homes for some of them. i dont really like craigslist cuz u never know who u are giving an animal too.

Most of the time, you don’t know who you are giving it too anyways. So it should make no difference where you advertise.

This is very true. A pet store is not going to monitor who they are selling to, they just want to make a sale. With Craigslist at least you can "teach" the person if it's their first snake and help them make correct choices. You can also tell them to call you if they have questions.

I did this recently with someone who bought one from Petco (I wish he'd called me I would have pointed him in a different direction!), but I printed him out some care sheets and a list of better items for his new baby and how to get rid of the mites.

Getting Fedex certified is very easy and it is no cost to you (at least that's how it was for me). You just have to follow the directions that they give you and you're on your way to getting certified!

    Re: small breeder ??

Craigslist isn't a good place to list - you will get FLAMED for posting live animals for sale, depending on the people in your area, and most craigslists don't allow you to sell living creatures - they will report you like crazy.

I tried selling my pure bred lab puppies (parents are fixed now, but both are pure bred, registered, and the puppies were raised at home, with us, and not by a puppy mill or anything like that) on craigslist and got so many flames for it... ridiculous! Most of it was just crap emails saying "you shouldn't own dogs!" and all kinds of mean things.

So crazy.... people on craigslist are crazy when it comes to listings of live animals, but there are plenty of other places, as well as local newspapers, or you can look for other retail companies that have vendor locations at shows (like if you go to reptile super show's website and look up vendors that set up stands there) - some will pick up snakes from breeders, or contact local pet and reptile stores to see if they are interested. Hope that helps!
