    Re: Stolen Balls!!!!

Stealing people's animals is beyond vile. Theft is horrible, I hope the people who did this are swiftly caught and all the snakes and beardies are returned ASAP.

This kindof makes me wonder...would it be cost-effective for me as a small-time hobbyist to start microchipping my snakes? My dog is chipped, and I plan to get my cats done sometime this fall...I wonder if I could either get my snakes done or get the means to do it myself. The thought of people stealing my Balls makes my blood run cold.

I will be more than happy to look for these snakes, ill take a look on craigslist as much as possjble in different areas, im from north nj so im not too far away. Do you have or can you get pictures of as many of the snakes as possible so we can maybe check for specific markings in the patterns if we can pictures of snakes being sold in the area.

    Re: Stolen Balls!!!!

Year after next, we plan to start microchipping our hets, and any animal worth over 1K.

My husband's already planning some diabolical techie smart house security system, due to hearing stories like this one.

The range of snakes they took makes me wonder if they actually plan to sell them at all, though...this could be a thief setting themselves up as a breeder. If they kept them for one or two years, they have quite the little starter kit, there. >_>

About all it would do is allow you to prove a snake is yours, if you found the snake. If i buy a snake form someone, i don't check it for microchips. I think your money would be better invested in stopping someone from doing the stealing in the first place, home security system, cameras, or something like that

    Re: Stolen Balls!!!!

Yep, chips are great for proving the animal's ID, but you'd still have to find the animal and scan it. It's still useful. Be aware that your snake needs to be a certain size before they will chip it in most cases, although I'm certain some folks will chip at whatever size they want.

I hope they find the theives, people just disgust me sometimes.

    Re: Stolen Balls!!!!

Man, hope the criminal is caught soon! It's just sad that people would steal animals, and from a rescue at that! The list makes it looks like they'll breed them though rather than sell 'em, and the boa could've been an impulse grab
