Re: WTF! What to do?
OK fans, BG will tell you what's going on here.
This is absolutely 100% from a feeder rodent. Unfortunately this has happened to BG a couple times over the years....and probably almost every larger breeder. Always make sure you get well fed rodents. It is perfectly safe(99.99999% of the time) to leave a rodent in with a snake over night if it's well fed and watered, if not, this can happen. If you have hides in with your snakes you may miss the fact that it didn't eat and leave a rodent in for a few days. This can happen then also. Be careful fans.
This snake will probably be fine, but you don't want it. Maybe for half price. There is a good chance it's not a good feeder, and this may make it worse. Get your money back for this animal. You'd be foolish to take it unless it's at least half price.

Re: WTF! What to do?
Either someone is just crazy here or these rats are on the juice man. I would return that thing. If you cant, and ur willing to stick with it it will take more then weeks for him/her to recover maybe months. You gotta make sure he's drinking and eating if not, there might really not be a happy ending here. Im sorry you had this issue happen.

Re: WTF! What to do?
No, it's not worth the risk. The seller clearly did something VERY wrong, and if that was wrong, what else is wrong?
Get a refund, and buy a different bee.

Agreed! That 0.000001% chance doesn't make it worth the risk...

Re: WTF! What to do?
Wow that is terrible. I am a total sucker...so I would demand that I get at least half of my $$ back. But for me...there is NO WAY I could return the snake. That is where the softie ..."I can fix him" part of me comes into play. I would take him to the vet to get some antibiotics and nurse him back. I would also be sure to note what happened on the BOI. That is the first place I would check prior to working with a new breeder.
BG...sit down as this may shock you..coming from me. (sorry )) But I totally disagree with leaving any live animal in with your snakes overnight. I realize that some of you that are bigger breeders may be on a time crunch but to me you can prekill if there is no strike and leave it in the tub on the warm end. That would be the safest alternative.

Re: WTF! What to do?
Hi,
Unless I misundertood his post the snake is still in the breeders posession?
He has paid full price so is able to get a refund easily as nothing needs to be shipped anywhere.
I'm not sure what I would do in his position - I think a lot depends on how available female bee's are over there.
Can anyone reasure me that, once healed, the scarring shouldn't affect her ability to breed?

Re: WTF! What to do?
I was running a pet store at the time and that snake was droped of and the people that gave it to the store said one rat did that, the snake was took to a vet and he also thinks that it was more then one rat or one that was left in a long time, we were unable to save the snake, and it was put down by the vet, i save the picture to help people learn that to leave a unsupervised rat/mouse in with snake is NOT a good thing to do.
