Flexwatt Question.

Hey all!

So I'm setting up to build a large cage for an RTB I plan on acquiring the beginning of next month. I'm planning on a 4x2x2 cage, built out of 3/4 (or 1/2) inch melamine board. ( I think thats what its called, its basically particle board with a thin layer of hard plastic over the top of it.)

I've seen a few different cage setups that were pre made using melamine, my concern is that if I use Flexwatt I wont be able to maintain the ambient temp of the cage and still keep the belly heat with in range.

Also any suggestions on how much I should use?

I've not actually purchased anything yet, I'm planning on building it next weekend, so if anybody has a suggestion for a cheap alternative i'm open to suggestions.

if your using melamine you can't heat through the wood very well (atleast it sounds like your trying to) i've seen people just put vinyl flooring over the flex watt and heat through that. your flex watt should be as big as what your animal will curl up on, mayb a little bigger or smaller, i would imagine 11 inch flex would be good for a rtb.

some people have also cut out a spot on the floor with a little edge and put glass there and then attached the flexwatt to the underside of the glass.
