What morph to look into?
I've been thinking of getting another ball in the future (not sure when though) and was thinking of going for a morph.
I may or may not breed in the future, and I have a normal male now. I was wondering what morphs I should look into that will give some good offspring when bred to a normal male (if there are any, I don't know anything about breeding).
There is supposed to be a reptile show here in October, and I'm going, so if I know what morphs I want to look into I can look at different vendors and get an idea of who I should go to when the time comes to get a new addition.
Any advice is much appreciated

If you get any of the dom/co-dom morphs (like spider, mojave, pastel, etc) you have a chance at getting that morph when bred to a normal.
Recessives like albino or ghost will give you hets when bred to your normal, ie they won't show, but will be carrying the gene.

Re: What morph to look into?
I was told that if I get a super lesser and breed to a normal I will get lessers (is this true?) and so I thought "Sweet, so I look for a super lesser, and maybe a G-Stripe because then I can breed the g-stripe to the lessers and get lesser-g's". Am I correct in thinking this?

Hi,
Not quite - genetic stripes are recessive so breeding a super lesser to a g-stripe would give you all lessers 100% het for g-stripe.
you would have to breed one of the offspring back to the g-stripe parent to have a shot at a visual lesser genetic stripe.
Both parents need to have a copy of the recessive gene to produce any visual offspring.

Alright, thanks So I guess I'll still go through with my plan to get a female super lesser for now, then work on the lesser g-stripe (it'll just take longer).

Anything thats co-dom like lessers you will produce more lessers when bred to normals. About the G-stripes, thats a recessive morph so you would get lesser het g stripes then have to rebreed the siblings or rebreed a baby lesser het g stripe to a visual g stripe.
To me, get a morph that you like, or an ingredient to a morph that you really like. Personally I got into breeding because I feel in love with the butter bee a few years ago so I bought myself a female spider. Just get what catches your eye and fits your budget and it will make breeding more fun.

Thanks, that's what I was thinking. I love lessers and super lessers, and so that's why I thought to get a lesser or super lesser female first, because I'd love to have one as a pet even if she doesn't become a good breeder, and then if she does I'll get a g-stripe because I find them pretty cool and I adore lesser g's.

Re: What morph to look into?
Hi,
It might be better to buy a female genetic stripe as that speeds up adding morphs into it in the future once she is up to size.
Incidently you don't need a super lesser to get more lessers - you have a 50/50 chance per egg fathered by a lesser that it will contain a lesser. The super just garauntees all the offspring will be at least lesser.
