New to BP. length of time between switching hides.

Hey i just got a new born PB. out of the egg about 2 or 3 days ago.
I have a 20g tank, which i know its big but i put a divider in it so that its a little over 10 now. I have two hides. they are Identical. one is 3/4 over the UTH(which is re the other is on the unheated side. my BP tends to stay under the cool hide. How long do they usually stay cool before warming back up? my UTH is regulated to stay at around 89is-93ish degrees.
    Is this normal behavior?

    Hello, and to BP.net...

Are you sure it only hatched a few days ago? If that is true hopefully some of the breeders on here will help you out with caring for a hatchling. Most breeders won't let hatchlings go until they have their first shed and get them eating a few meals. You might want to consider getting a 10-15 quart tub and putting the hides and water bowl in that to keep the snake in. You can set the tub in the tank 1/2 over the heater for a warm side, or use the heat mat on the tub itself until the snake is a few months old and eating consistently for you.

For your question concerning hides, they move back and forth to thermoregulate whenever they need to. Alot of times when snakes are put into a new enclosure they will tend to stay in one hide or the other for a day or so until they feel secure and comfortable enough to move between them...
