I think it's "normal" and okay, as long as the individual realizes that animals are animals - they don't "love" you and basically function on an instinctual level only. Your snake does not "enjoy" its activities with you
Yes, I talk to my dog all the time, haha, and say excuse you after she burps or farts lmao and bless you if she sneezes xP But I think a lot of people really DO think their reptiles enjoy being out with them and seek out their attention.

Bearded dragons on the other hand...I have seen some that literally beg for you to take them out, and fly onto your arm when you reach in...but I think they just see you as being able to get out of their house, not you as the enjoyment factor.
