    How to sex a hatchling?

In looking at this years post's I see that most all who hatch out bp's almost imediatly know the sex of said snakes. My question is how do you sex a hatchling bp? Do you probe, pop, or is there some visual cue from the egg?

    Thanks!

Re: How to sex a hatchling?

    Hi,

I pop - if I see penes it's a definate male and marked as such. If I don't see penes it's a possible female that I will re-check later.

I'm kind of a wuss about probing hatchlings.

I pop to see which are males also. I probe after one month old to make sure. I only probe after they have eaten a few times. Probing will stress them alot and could make them not want to feed.

I pop and then probe for the correct sex .Its easier out of the egg as they dont have full muscle control

Yup. I pop. Any males are definitely males. Any females are marked as "female?". After their 1st shed I double check females. Then before they're sent off to their new homes I triple check again just to be sure.
