Western Canadian Reptile Expo
Western Canadian Reptile Expo August 28,29 2010
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After lots of discussions myself and a few others have decided to put on a show in Red Deer at the end of August. With it being the perfect time of snake keepers sitting on babies that are ready to go, and everyone looking for a reptile show before the kids go back to school we thought that we would be game to put one on.
Details and official announcement will follow shortly but wanted to get the word out there that there will be a show in Red Deer this
summer, and we would love to see you all there.
Western Canadian Reptile Expo
Saturday August 28 2010 – Sunday August 29, 2010
10-5 both days
Parkland Pavilion at the Westerner Park, Red Deer, AB
4847A 19 Street,
Red Deer, AB T4R 2N7

Re: Western Canadian Reptile Expo
If this is your first show you may be starting off with a recipe for failure. It's too short of notice. If it's not too late BG thinks you should try and push it back a couple months and advertise really well. This gives people the ability to make plans better. It also gets the word out much better. One month just isn't enough time for some people to make plans. Sure all the locals will go, but if you want to draw more people from farther away you should give it more time.
BG will say though he doesn't know your area very well. Maybe millions of reptile geeks have been waiting years for a show. If that's the case...you're in the money...if not....you'll need some luck. An all expenses paid BG vacation to visit your show might help it.

BG, this show has been advertisedon the alberta and edmonton reptile forums (and I'm sure other local forums) for quite a while now. I know I'm going to try and go!

For how long though? From the post it looks like he just decided to put on the show.

The first I heard of it was in May, on the Edmonton Reptile forum (I lurk there). And presumably the coordinator (Greg West, I think) had been planning it for a while beforehand.

As you can see, it seems to be a repost of this thread. I can see where you're coming from though, the way it's written here is a bit confusing if one didn't already know about it. For good measure, here's the website!

Lots more info there.
Now I just have to figure our how I'm going to get there.

Lots of hotels in gasoline alley just south of the venue. I just go and get a room at one when i get there never had to prebook yet. I will be bringing a huge number of baby snakes to the show Brazilian rainbow boas, columbian rainbow boas, short tailed pythons, irian jaya pythons and a whole lot more at real low prices.

Ah, cool, it looks like the venue is right behind them too. I do know there is going to be a horse show (National Quarter Horse Show) going on at the Westerner Park at the same time, should also be interesting.
Sounds like you have quite the haul to bring with you! I, sadly, cannot pick up anything live at the show, but I sure will look my eyeball out!
