    classical guitar

    Ok i know this jas nothing to do with herps but i found a guitar yesterday and i was hoping someone could help me value it or if they have any knowledge of this company. It is an old classicak guitar made by giannini and it is the model avn 300. Handmade in brasil in the 70s with what i believe is brasilian redwood, any info on possible value?

    That should be an AWN 300 not AVN. These guitars were built in the mid sixties to ?. Not a bad guitar. These guitars can be good or not, depending on when it was built and who built it (meaning which luthier).

    If it has a good set of strings, play it and see what you think. Check it's intonation. Look for minor cracks and delamination ANYWHERE on the guitar.
    Listen for any fret buzz, check the nut and bridge. Make sure the pegs are tight too.

    One concern with a guitar this old is that the wood could have dried out if not stored properly. It's quality could degrade quickly after your purchase. Cracks should indicate the condition of the wood, but not always. Since it is a laminated guitar, it could be cracked inside and not made it to the outside venier.

    These guitars can be found from $50 to upwards of $300.
