if its the same basic thing why would they not be compatible? the end result is a gray and back skin pigment? you would think that it would be all same?
Just consider each line to be a different morph than the others. Also from photos I tend to see differences in the differing lines...VPI being the most grayscale of them. The others look a little...muddy.

there are different lines of pastels but they're all the same - they sometimes just have minor differences in terms of color and pattern
lineage is just about who produced that particular mutation and how it works with others
