Aggressive babies!

How long does it take this nippy-ness to subside? Seems like every hatchling I have, from 0 meals to 5 meals wants to take me out every chance they get. Had one female that has had 3 meals strike at me literally 10 times today just for moving her hide around! Is this pretty common for hatchlings, and how do I make it stop?

They calm down eventually, or most do.
Nothing is more frustrating than having a calm baby that has little interest in striking(eating)

Exactly...I love the feisty babies. They are usually coming up out of the tub to get dinner. Where as the calm mellow ones you have to do the dance and convince them that feeding is a worthwhile endeavor.

The nippy ones grow out of it, but they typically keep their feeding response. Gotta love 'em.

I would much rather them be nippy and good eaters then be placid for sure...but potential new homes, that aren't breeders, think they are just mean! lol...just wanted to make sure it was normal, and I wasn't just breeding an evil bloodline...

Totally understand, I get that concern a lot too from people. I let them hold sub-adults too and the adults so they can know what to really expect as far as temperment goes. The truly evil ball pythons are few and far between.

It's common for hatchlings, they grow out of it.

Babies are naturally defensive because in the wild, they are first to be eaten by a predator! They will grow out of it in a couple months when they get used to be handled!

The only nippy babies I've hatched out so far were JCPs. My baby balls have all been very laid back.
