Question for Bill & Tom & Anyone Else with "Specials"
Has this been combined with the "Lesser/Butters" yet? I heard a rumor a while ago that the "Crystal" (Special Mojave) is basically a "Mojave Daddy" similar to the "Platty Daddy" or "Butter Daddy" that Ralph Davis has produced. The results of a Special x Butter/Lesser should prove or dispel that.
Oops! Can someone please move this to BP Morph & Genetics?

I'm pretty sure someone out there did it with a Lesser.
I'll double check and get back to you.

BHB's are done with a Lesser....but their specials are NOT the same specials that Baker has if I understand everything correctly.

I believe the only made one. With only a male "special" may be totally off on that.
But it could also be that what they created wasnt in fact a "crystal" but something else non reproducible.

Hopefully those ovulations are only a few short days/weeks away! I'd really love to see what comes out of those eggs.

No one needs to breed special x butter or lesser to disprove that rumor. Special is a visual morph, and the hidden gene animals that produce platinums just look like normals. They are obviously not the same thing.

I would tend to agree with Jeff as has produced a Daddy -- although "knowing" is doing -- and pairing has not been done to date.
I produced an animal in from a Butter x Normal pairing in 08 that I believe to be a Butter Daddy. He is breeding some girls -- normals and a couple morphs. Will take some time to prove him unless I get lucky and hit on a male non- Butter morph. I will be NO DOUBT be putting any male morph I get from him on a Butter girl when he is breeding ready!!!!!

Also, I am 99% sure that I have a hidden gene x mojave cross (mojave daddy?) in the egg, and it's not a crystal. It should be out towards the end of the week or over the weekend. I'll post pics when it's out.

From the Specials I've seen it would seem to be pretty easy to miss one, I mean it isn't like the "Special" was purchased as a morph in the first place. Same thing applies with the likes of "Het. Super Stripes" all morphs have good and bad examples so I don't think it's unreasonable at all to imagine that a "Special" and the "Daddy" Gene carriers are the same thing.
That said I look forward to seeing what a "Mojave Daddy" would look like if it isn't a Crystal.
