You mean mulch? If so and it's the good, thin, shredded kind, should poop it out fine. My adult male used to when I had him in a tank. I'd watch him eat and pick pieces off to reduce the likelihood, but it happens.

Personally I suggest news paper (I use unprinted). It's cheap and it lasts for ages.

Im not too sure, but when kept my bps on aspen they ate some with feeding and they were completely fine. If they can digest a whole rat im sure they can take down a little bit of bedding.

Acids have no effect on wood. They primarily attack ionic compounds and considering that cellulose is not ionic (being a covalent bond), it wont be broken down by the acid. Breaking down cellulose requires some kind of cellulase (enzyme used to break down cellulose, hence being an "-ase") which is primarily formed by single cell organisms, which snakes most likely lack).

However it should be able to pass through the snakes digestive system, it will come back out as what it started as, or will just be vomited up.

Mine have eaten it and it comes out whole wood so if it's a lot, it can be a problem. But usually it isn't. I now grab them and put them on top of a paper towel once they have the rat and haven't had an issue since.

i like this suggestion! wait did you say you put them on top of paper towel once they have the rat? you mean you hold them and move them while bitting the prey?

It really isnt that hard to do, I do all the time if I want to close a tub and their body wont let me. Seriously they just grab the prey tighter and if you grab them by the lower body/tail they will hold you firmly but not try and crush you.
