Geez. That's insane. I hate it when vets do that. I had 2 week old lab puppies one time, and they ended up getting fleas (they were in an outside kennel). Mom was always treated but with it being outside the puppies contracted them. I went to a pet store to get some flea meds, but most of them are for older puppies.
I talked to a manager and he sent me over to a vets office to get some distilled stuff for them. I got there and they tried to tell me I needed to go back home, get the puppies, so they could have an exam before they would give me the flea meds. I pitched a fit. First of all, I was on my parents farm that was at least 45 min from there, one way, and it was 10:30 at night already. My vet was closer but didn't have overnight hours, but all my animals get their regular check-ups. I guess since I didn't have an account with them, meant I never took my animals in. Ugh! Needless to say, they decided grabbing two week old puppies, and mom, in the middle of the night wasn't such a good idea. I know they have the pets best interest in mind, but sometimes they take things too far.
