    Best Calico Line?

I was wondering what everyone considers to be the best calico line? Would also be nice if people knew who worked with what line in the US so I can check them out. Thanks,
    B

    Re: Best Calico Line?

Sugars are their own Morph, and not a line of Calico, but ...

    I will say Sugar anyway.

I have seen some very nice Calico's from the Flora Fauna Line, and am unaware of any other lines.

    Re: Best Calico Line?

i have never heard of multiple lines of calicos ether. just know sugars but im not sure if they are a own morph or if they are the same as calico... some ppl say yes other say no. i really dont know...

edit: but its like in pieds. u can breed a low white calico and get high whites and can breed high whites and get low whites from it...

    Re: Best Calico Line?

Well I read on NERD site they were the first to produce in 2002. Yet I've been reading about the Flora Fauna line being really good. I've also read something about there being a VPI line. I was figuring sugars were just another line of calico's but new to bps so I will look into those too.

    Re: Best Calico Line?

Jon over at Next World Exotics has his own line of Calicos. His line almost every calico and sibling are black backs and very orange in coloration. Usually his line hatches a lot more medium/ high white sided calicos then low white ones that need a magnifying class to tell. His calicos also tend to be ringers as well.

    Re: Best Calico Line?

I had been looking on Jon's site but I honestly thought maybe he wasn't around anymore because the website's last clutch records were from 08? He did have some of the best looking calico's though. I also emailed him once before about my black pastel and never got a reply, so figured was out of the picture.

    Re: Best Calico Line?

Jon was not really doing that much with his breeding last year. But this year he will be hatching out a lot of neat stuff. Some really neat calico crosses but I don't want to give away all the info because it's his breeding.
He has about 10 clutches due to hatch in the next month so he'll have some babies to sell.

    Re: Best Calico Line?

There are a number of calico lines out there at this point.
We have imported at least 10-15 calico's over the years, not to mention a number of c.h babies that were calico looking that we sold as calico types that could have proved out as well.

They are very variable, and any line can throw high or low white just like a pied. I would go with whatever breeder treats you the best...
