Wow, good to know its normal lol. Just thought it was weird cause if it were me I would be roaming around at night. Seems like they would be bored all the time.

You did ask about the ambient and before closing the discussion you may want to get someone to clarify if 90 ambient is too high.

I am thinking it is and there wouldnt be much ability for the snake to regulate to a cooler temp if it wanted to. This having nothing to do with why it is in the hide most of the time, which is normal.

My snake stays in the hide all day, and at night she just poked her head out and chills. Then about 1 to 2 days before feeding day she starts to roam around at night. After feeding she is hide bound.

you've only had your bp for a week. give it time and you'll eventually see him cruising his enclosure here and there.

Hello, yes I do have a Temperature Gradient the Cool Side is 82.9 and the Hot Spot is 90-93 so I think he is doing ok.

I was curious as to how much my bp came out at night so I taped him for a little while when he was younger. I found on average he only cruized for like 8 minutes a night.


After he feels more comfortable, you will probably see him poking his head out of the hide, if he doesn't do that already. The odd time you might catch him out and about. SOme bp's can be more active then others but the head poking out is generally the highlight of activity most often. They do cruise jsut not much so it's really the chance of catching them doing it. And a lot of bp's will freeze up or go back to hiding if they are even caught out and about.
