    Re: The twilight saga movies

My roomate loves that stuff. I try not to hate on what people like but that twilight stuff is just so vomit inducing. The BK commercial sends me into a homicidal "Don Vito" esque rage.

    Re: The twilight saga movies

The books were ok...read them all...the movies they could have done more with....all the technology out there...so I kinda expected more. I like the Vampire Diaries. Was watching TrueBlood..but that got a little cooky even for a vampire spoof. Ann Rice is the Best...but I dont think shes writing in that area anymore...I read somewhere she is writing Christian book now..Dont know? Went and saw Eclipse last night. My husband thinks the whole mess is gay..The acting is getting a little better with each movie but not by my much...I saw another Robert Pattison movie "Remember Me"....his acting is much better in that one.

    Re: The twilight saga movies

    TrueBlood is absolutely awesome.

Twilight..meh. At least the special effects are cool.
And no, Eclipse is not the last movie. There is one more, and...well, let's just say that plot's been done before. lol

    Re: The twilight saga movies

My favorite Werewolf story is by the author Donna Boyd. The Passion and The Promise. Even years after reading them both - they still rank as two of my most favorite reads.

    Re: The twilight saga movies

I like the movies, but the books are better IMO. I heard the fourth movie, Breaking Dawn, is going to be broken down into two parts.

Not a fan of the books or the movies but I'll give them credit they know how to market to young girls.

That being said I think the only way those movies or books would have been good would be if the lost boys showed up and got rid of both the glittery vampire and the werewolf. I'm a fan of the old school vampire movies. Salem's Lot and such and this twilight craze has me on the constant verge of vomit.

Sad thing is..Not just young girls read it. There's hoards of 40 year old women that's obsessed with it. Frankly, I'm of the opinion that the books should be destroyed and the manuscript set on fire. Nothing good has come of that series except hoards of overly obsessed females (who harass people if they don't like twilight. Read an article where a teenager went a killed a child's fish because the child didn't like twilight) who are being taught that it's perfectly acceptable to be stalked.

    Re: The twilight saga movies

I'm not sure whom you think is stalking whom, in Twilight. (lol)

Now, as a rabid, frothing, crazed, unrepentant bookworm, I recommend the following:

    Lighter fare:
P.N. Elrod (pretty much everything she's written). - vamps as good guys.

Tanya Huff - Blood books. vamps and other critters. Superb characterization. Was made into a short-lived television series called "Blood Ties", which fell short of its potential due to televisionizing and removal of a key character. Still notable for having the least whiny vamp main character on TV.

Charlaine Harris - Southern Vampire Mysteries. This is the series True Blood is based on. One of the best adaptations of book to tv I have ever seen. The books are great and will make you giggle--but yes, this is how books SHOULD be made into TV.

Jim Butcher - Dresden Series. wizards, vamps, werewolves, and other various critters. Made into a short-lived tv series whose writers should have been pounded into a pulp for taking what could have been the next 'Buffy' and turning it into formulaic garbage. And I will never forgive them for what they did to Bob.

Carrie Vaughn - Kitty Norville series. - werewolves.

    Weightier tomes:
Chelsea Quinn Yarbro - Saint Germain series - vamps.

C.S. Friedman - When True Night Falls (trilogy) - sorta vamps. Science fiction. The best anti-hero ever penned.

    Re: The twilight saga movies

I've read the books, they could've been worse. Extremely easy to read, which means half of the time I was reading them I was zoned out thinking about something totally unrelated to vampires. I haven't seen any of the movies, though.

    Re: The twilight saga movies

I read them and I've watched the movies. I enjoyed them but I don't obsess over it like I've seen so many people do. Whenever I go see one of the movies in theaters, I see these squealing, Edward/Jacob t-shirt wearing, dark eyeliner wearing, highschool nit-wits who I just want to knock upside the head but *sigh* I just go on about my business. I like vampires and werewolves and will watch just about anything or read anything with them in it, but I do have to agree that these books and movies are basically just a bunch of whiny, hormone crazed teenagers with a dash of the mythical thrown in.
    Under Construction.....
