I'm a military brat who went into civilian life around 9. As far as where my family is from, Ireland mostly, the rest is Caucasian mutt. But i dont see how the immediate pre-America location my family came from really matters.

Being a suburbanite in a good community leads to people who are good community suburbanites, being in an urban/section 8/bad suburban area leads to people who are most likely going to share most of their behavior in common with those groups of people... How you are raised, how much peer influence you had, and the kinds of people who your peers were affects you a lot more than the location that your family line was prior to coming to America.

Note that that excludes people who are not part of America or are first/second generation immigrants.
