hissing?

ok for the first time yesterday wen i went in her tank to get her bowl and do some spot cleaning i accidentally bumped her with the bowl and she hissed it was really loud to and then today i put in a new digital therm she hissed again why is she doing this i dont mess with her at all unless i am getting her bowl to clean it which is not much and to feed her. she also ate sunday so it hasnt been a week do you think maybe she just doesnt want me near her cause of that or wat?

Perfectly normal she is just warning you that she will bite. Call it a bluff... but do keep your eye on her if she is hissing and you need to do something around her. I notice that it happens more often for me when I am not around for a few days at a time.

The best thing you can do is rub her backside letting her know your there when your working around her. if your nervous about getting bit hold the hide or a cloth over her head while you do so before picking her up.

A few days ago i went in to change the water and check her paper. when i lifted her hide she hissed, but she kept doing it on the smaller snakes you may not catch them taking deep breaths between hisses. This as the first time she hissed at me and the first time i noticed the inflation and deflation...

Its normal for BP's to give a bluff hiss to try to scare away whenever is scaring them.

Whenever I get a hiss when I am cleaning a tub or changing water I pick them up briefly. It helps them identify and associate yourself as something that will not hurt/eat them.

Over time these brief interactions build trust with your snake and will allow them to relax more and you should get hissed at much less.

my pastel is about to be 1 yr old and he always hisses. everytime i go into his tub he hisses. but he never bites (yet) he just tries to scare me off. just pick them up and hold them for a second, it will be fine.
