Boaphile Animal Plastics, or Other for Racks

Hi,

I've decided on getting my racks from a professional company, because I don't want to risk messing up the measurements, and making the rack wrong (since I have horrible carpentry skills ).

So far, I really like Boaphile and Animal Plastics. I am looking for sturdy racks that will last a long time, well-built, preferably black in color, and (if possible) have wheels. The wheels are just in case I have to move the rack to another room.

Which company do you prefer, and why?

And if you do not like these companies, please state another company and tell me why you like them.

Also, if you vote, please respond on why you like them. It doesn't help much if you pick one company, and you don't tell me why you like them.

Reptile Basics all the way. I own 8 racks so far and plan to buy more.

My oldest rack is 20 months so far and is still the same as the day I bought it.

All my RBI racks have recessed heat tape so the bins don't rub and if I do have to replace the flexwatt it its easier.

All RBI racks are shipped all ready assembled so you can't mess it up.

Very fair prices.

Very quick turnaround time.

Beyond top notch costumer service by Rich. He is extremely helpful and I think its pretty unanimous around the forums that he is someone you can trust.

I made my own enclosed rack. Stands about 72" high and the shelves are made to fit 1 41qt tub long wase or 2 28qt tubs side by side or 3 smaller tubs side by side. Made it with 8 shelves so i have a good bit of space for whatever i need to start out with. Spent close to $150 in supplies. Plywood has gotten really expensive.

Animal Plastics or Reptile Basics will be great racks. I have both and have no complaints.

While I have no experience with a rack, I made a single enclosure out of melamine and seems to be doing well. It was very easy to work with and looks great.

I Use RBI (Reptile Basic) Cant say half bad word about them....

So for my future Rack Gonna be RBI all The Way!!!

All of the above is do-able! really; I'e built my own racks, and they are definately cheaper, have a higher wattage of heat, etc. But it is time-consuming, and the fit & finish leaves a lot to be desired compared to professionally built racks. I have one prof. built rack, a 32 qt., which may be an RBI, I dunno-picked it up used; and it is excellant. I would say-build your own, RBI, Animal Plastics, Boaphile, Vision, etc. are are excellant, as long as they fit your needs. I personally don't keep my snake room a steady 80 degrees year-round; so I need belly-heat. And for a 3' long rack, I need more than 3 inches of flex-watt. Also-I prefer the fully enclosed racks to the open air, such as Vision, Freedom-Breeder, etc, for holding heat & humidity. Also , ball pythons seem to love the "cave-like" environment; either with or without a hide.

RBI, going to build my own hatchling/juvie rack next, then my own CB70 rack and finally a sweater box rack.

BTW, the RBI rack is amazing, it just cant really be taken apart if I ever move and they are moderately expensive.

Personally if I could afford it I would love to get a Freedom Breeder.

I have some older Boaphile hatchling racks I picked up used, and the bins are very fragile. (I understand those bins are no longer available, so I can't replace broken ones, either). They crack and become more fragile over time. I prefer Sterilite tubs.

I have a BUNCH of Animal Plastics racks, and I am very happy with them. They're sturdy, easy to clean, and hold heat well. The economy racks are VERY economical. You do have to be careful of the new shelf fronts, if you drop a shelf or something while assembling or cleaning it, and it hits something hard, the corner may snap off. This doesn't affect the functioning of the rack, though. (Happened to us just once).

AP also has phenomenal customer service.
